Georgia Wellington Boot – Our Top Review
No matter what your job, there is probably a pair of Georgia boots that are perfect for you. From casual shoes, to farmwear, to footwear fit for logging, the makers of “America’s hardest working boot” do it all.
Today, we’re going to take a look at their extensive Giant range. More specifically, the Giant Revamp Steel Toe Waterproof Pull-On Work Boot, one of Georgia’s many high-walled boots and, in our opinion, their best wellington boot yet.
Review: The Georgia Giant Revamp Steel Toe
Waterproof Pull-On Work Boot
Good quality wellingtons are usually favoured by farmers, but the Revamps are packed with so many features that they could be well suited to a number of different work environments.
From a safety point of view, they are miles ahead of their competitors. In addition to steel toes, they boast electrical hazard protection, thanks to a nail-free construction which helps to insulate the wearer from the ground up. It should be noted that Georgia claim these boots are not intended to act as a primary protection against electrical hazards, though they do exceed ASTM safety standards.
Why are these Boots Good Specifically for Farm Work
Thick rubber soles also provide a solid base for the rest of the boot. Polyurethane outsoles are slip and oil resistant, while the heel comes with a clever counter lock system, designed to prevent slipping and provide a more secure fit. You can check out more styles of the best farm work boots here.
Additional features like these are perfectly suited to farm work, where the risks of shocks, slippage and falling objects are still serious, but not necessarily common enough to justify chucking in your wellington boots for a pair of heavy duty work boots.
The Revamps are also incredibly durable, due in part to a double-ribbed, tempered steel shank and a solid Goodyear welt construction. Perhaps most important of all, especially if you intend to wear these boots on the farm, they are 100% waterproof. Full-grain, ‘soggy brown’ leather and nylon uppers are aided by a mesh lining that is high performance and the patented Georgia Waterproof System to ensure your feet always stay dry, no matter how wet the conditions get. Outer walls that are almost ten inches high don’t hurt either.
In fact, we also looked at Georgia’s Giant Wellington Work Boots and found that the Revamps were more waterproof. Don’t let the name fool you. If you’re looking for wellington boots with high walls that are guaranteed to keep your feet dry, the Revamps are the ones for you.
When it comes to the comfort features that make long hours on the farm more bearable, the Georgia boot is also not left wanting. Ergo-Fit technology means its steel toes are shaped to match the contours of your feet, providing an improved range of motion. Elsewhere, in addition to making the boots more durable, their tempered steel shanks help to conserve energy while you’re walking.
EVA midsoles which cushion the wearer’s step, coupled with removable memory foam insoles, make these boots comfier still. They are also available in two widths – medium and wide – allowing you to ensure your pair fits just right. To top it off, they’re quick to wear in too.
The only downside we can find with the Revamps is that they are quite heavy. A pair in size ten weighs 3.6 pounds. This is about 20% more weight than Georgia’s Wellington Pull-On Work Boots, and far heavier than rubber wellington boots or ankle shoes.
But those boots don’t boast any of the Revamps’ safety features (and a waterproof shoe will still be less waterproof than the Revamps). For work in tough environments – particularly on different types of farms and ranches – you need boots that are protective and hard-wearing as well as waterproof. In this department, the Revamps really are in a class of their own.
Where are Georgia boots made?
The Georgia Revamps are an American-made pair of rugged, waterproof sturdiness that will protect your feet, last for years and act as ideal boots in a wide array of working environments. In our opinion, they are the best all-round pair of wellington boots on the market today. In all honesty, we loved them.
